A History Quiz prepared by Lynda

Can you identify who said the following? Scroll down for the answer.

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest [the U.S.] become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."

Lynda

"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." Aldous Huxley

Answer:
--Cicero, 55 BC and the brackets should actually read "Rome."

Thank you Lynda, for an enlightening History lessons! Too bad the American people, many of which are graduates of the public education system, and our so called called intelligent leaders, many of whom are graduates of the private school sector, are clearly not paying attention to what they should have learned from history!

Nothing new under the sun.

Everything old is new again.

In other words, I'm not surprised. People are people, no matter what time period it is. Kind of sad, isn't it?

I'm reading a really good book about George Washington and among his diary notations, there are some comments that could easily apply to people today.

Thanks for your comment! Sounds like things are going pretty good for you and your family. Glad to hear it! Take care and have a great weekend!

Fine quotes!
Good homeschooling articles too. I like your family's email method.
We've met several kids in the school system whose parents consider them 'happy' but they are really just resigned to the grind because that's the only lifestyle they know. I'm sure you know what I mean.
As the kids get older we keep our faith up that we are really blessing them with something very special.
Thanks for your great thoughts again,
Paula
