I flipped on the TV this morning and this really cool clip was playing on the morning news. It was so interesting that I just had to share it with my friends. Scott makes a point of stating that the current way math is taught, forces kids to use their memory part of their brain instead of the human calculator part. He is able to do the math he does because he has turned on this calculator instead of relying on memory. Every one can do this. Visit the American Math Challenge for more details about learning this 'missing chapter' and also, the Math Challenge that is going on.

That's interesting. Maybe I should have the kids practice with the Mental Math book again.
Peace and Laughter,
